Real American Freestyle (RAF) has quickly gained momentum since its establishment last year. Created by wrestling legends Hulk Hogan, Chad Bronstein, Izzy Martinez, and Eric Bischoff, RAF aims to bring professional freestyle wrestling to new heights in the United States and internationally. Among its top champions, Wyatt Hendrickson and Kennedy Blades stand tall as noteworthy figures in the league.
Recently, RAF made headlines when Bronstein and Martinez revealed discussions with NFL veteran Ray Lewis about participating in a match before year’s end. Although a deal is not finalized, sources indicate positive developments. Kurt Angle, an Olympic gold medalist and seasoned wrestler, expressed skepticism about Lewis’s prospects against elite opponents, citing his age and limited experience in wrestling.
“Ray did wrestle in high school, so he knows wrestling,” Angle stated. “But I think he’ll represent RAF rather than compete seriously.”
Ray Lewis, who is 51, was a Florida wrestling champion before choosing a football career and becoming a legendary linebacker. Angle, formerly a commentator for RAF, was released due to budget constraints but anticipates a bright future for the league. He noted RAF’s global expansion akin to UFC, with events planned worldwide, including Russia, Europe, and India.
RAF’s international appeal is undeniable. While wrestling is widely popular in the United States, it garners even greater interest overseas, particularly in Eastern Europe and Asia. RAF aims to recruit top talent globally, aspiring to become a powerhouse like the UFC.
Real American Freestyle will host RAF14 in Las Vegas on October 23, live on Fox Nation.
