Texas Prepares for Showdown with Ohio State following Dominant Opener

Texas commenced the season with a decisive victory, defeating Texas State 59-7 in front of over 100,000 enthusiastic fans. This game served as an introduction to Longhorns’ new transfer, Cam Coleman, a sophomore wide receiver.

Coleman impressed by achieving 70 yards and scoring two touchdowns from only three catches, including a significant 44-yard play with quarterback Arch Manning. His remarkable red-zone abilities were evident, showcasing a strong rapport with Manning.

The upcoming challenge is set for Saturday night against Ohio State at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. Despite the formidable defense of the Buckeyes, Coleman remains confident, affirming his readiness.

“We’re coming. We’re coming,” Coleman stated, addressing the impending encounter with Ohio State’s defense.

Coleman emerged as the top-rated transfer of the 2026 college football cycle following commendable performances at Auburn. In 2024, he accumulated 598 yards, eight touchdowns, and averaged 16.2 yards per catch, earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors. The following year, his stats rose to 708 yards and five touchdowns, with an average of 12.6 yards per catch.

Expectations are high for Coleman to exceed previous records, thanks to receiving Manning’s passes. Manning demonstrated prowess against Texas State, completing 20 of 27 passes for 305 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Junior receiver Ryan Wingo also stood out, securing 121 yards and a touchdown on seven catches.

Ohio State, however, presents a formidable challenge. They recently defeated Ball State 56-3. Both teams are unbeaten, making Week 2 a significant test. Coleman aims to validate his confidence against Ohio State’s skilled secondary.
