Teen Critically Injured in West Ridge Shooting

A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition following a shooting in the West Ridge neighborhood, police sources and an internal report confirmed. The incident took place at approximately 3 p.m. on Friday in the 6300 block of North Rockwell Street, according to an initial notification by Chicago police.

Sources indicate that shots were fired from a blue Honda Accord, which subsequently left the scene. The boy sustained a neck injury and was transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. It is unclear whether the boy was the intended target of the shooting.

Although the boy’s parents were unharmed, officers from the Rogers Park District ensured their transport to the hospital, a police source noted. Detectives from the Belmont Area are currently investigating the incident.
