Clemson Tigers Watch for Weather as They Prep for Miami Matchup

The Clemson Tigers are under the watchful eye of the National Weather Service as they prepare to host No. 4 Miami on Saturday night. This season, Clemson has already faced weather-related delays in three consecutive games.

Their first game of the season against LSU in Baton Rouge was delayed nearly two hours, ending in a 51-10 loss. In their second game, a delay also almost reached two hours before Clemson secured a 22-7 win against Georgia Southern. During Week 3, play halted in the fourth quarter due to lightning, yet Clemson managed a comeback to defeat North Carolina 28-20.

Week 4 in Berkeley, California, saw no weather issues as Clemson triumphed over California with a 24-10 victory, improving their record to 3-1. As they face their first ranked opponent since LSU, weather could play a role in the upcoming game against Miami, which is crucial for Coach Dabo Swinney.

Chapel Fowler of The State Newspaper reports that Clemson is keeping an eye on potential heavy rain and thunderstorms. There are no alterations to the schedule as it stands.

“Per Clemson: The school is ‘monitoring potential inclement weather’ for Saturday’s game vs. No. 4 Miami, as heavy rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast,” Fowler posted. “There are NO changes to kickoff time as of now (still 7:30 p.m. Saturday), but if anything changes, they’ll announce it.”

The initial delay in Week 1 disrupted Clemson, yet in Week 3, North Carolina’s ineffective offensive strategy during the delay helped Clemson. Both Miami and Clemson have previously dealt with rainy conditions, minimizing any potential advantage for either team in this scenario.
