A federal judge in Miami will soon hear arguments regarding the custody of social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate. The brothers face extradition to the United Kingdom due to accusations of rape and sex trafficking.

U.S. Magistrate Lauren Louis will evaluate whether the Tates should remain detained or be released while the extradition process unfolds. This procedure could take several months, and the brothers have denied any wrongdoing.

Since their arrest on July 18, the Tates have been held in a Miami detention center. Their attorneys argue that their high-profile status prevents them from fleeing, emphasizing that they frequently update their location on social media.

The Tates have gained infamy for promoting wealth and male dominance, with serious accusations adding to their legal battles across the globe, including the U.S., U.K., and Romania.

Prosecutors assert that the Tates should remain detained due to strong evidence against bail in international extradition cases. They highlight pending charges involving human trafficking, rapes, and intimidating witnesses in Romania as a significant public safety concern.

The defense counters by stating the Tates’ adherence to all pretrial restrictions in Romania proves their commitment to legal obligations. The U.K. must present supporting evidence for extradition by mid-September, potentially keeping the brothers in Miami until the proceedings conclude.

No date is yet set for the extradition hearing, but the brothers are currently held in a special unit for protection.
