TAICHUNG, Taiwan — Taiwan, an island claimed by Beijing, is enhancing its defense strategy by manufacturing drones without using components from China. This initiative comes as a response to the global influence China holds over the drone industry.

Similar to the measures taken by Ukraine, Taiwan is prioritizing self-reliance in technology. This approach aims to bolster security against potential threats from its larger neighbor.

The island’s determination to produce drones independently reflects a strategic move to diversify and secure its defense capabilities.

Military personnel in Taiwan have actively engaged in exercises, including those where drones were launched outside naval bases, as reported earlier this year.
