A suspect in the killings of five individuals and several animals on a rural Oregon property was found dead on Sunday. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 36-year-old Benjamin Charles Parker. This case has been described as a ‘complex investigation.’
Authorities from the Enumclaw Police Department discovered Parker’s vehicle with his body inside. It is suspected he died by suicide. Enumclaw is a small city located in Washington state.
Officials believe the quintuple homicide was not a random act. Sheriff Caprice Massey stated that Parker ‘was known to the subjects.’
The initial response occurred Saturday morning following a 911 call reporting a vehicle fire in unincorporated Washington County, near Forest Grove. Upon arrival, law enforcement and fire personnel found the bodies of five people along with several domestic animals.
Detective Shannon Wilde of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office mentioned at a news conference on Sunday that they are working to confirm the identities of the victims. The crime scene is described as being on a rural property surrounded by other homes and dense vegetation.
Sheriff Massey noted the extraordinary nature of the case, highlighting its complexity and stating, ‘In my 22 years here, I have not been a part of or witnessed a scene quite this complex.’
There is no ongoing threat to the public, as per the sheriff’s office. Forest Grove is approximately 25 miles west of Portland, Oregon, and about 190 miles southwest of Enumclaw.
