Lydia Taylor Davis, a spokeswoman for Students for Life, was confronted by a group of Antifa protesters at the Turning Point USA’s Women’s Leadership Summit in San Antonio, Texas. These protesters celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk, who was killed during a speech at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Davis attempted to engage in a dialogue with the group outside the convention center. She described the scene as chaotic, with protesters accusing her of being a Nazi and a fascist. The situation escalated when one protester deliberately coughed on her, another sounded a siren in her face, and a third threw water.
Throughout the ordeal, demonstrators shouted offensive slogans, including “Oink, oink, piggy piggy, we don’t want you in our city.” One individual dressed as Charlie Kirk mocked his death. Davis expressed her shock at their open mockery and support for such violence.
“People mocked the death of Charlie Kirk,” said Davis in an interview with Fox News Digital. “It’s ironic that they called me a fascist whilst celebrating the assassination of someone for expressing his free speech.”
Despite the hostility, Davis remains committed to her work in the pro-life movement. She explained that her involvement with Students for Life and Turning Point USA carries risks, prompting her to employ security measures like wearing a bulletproof vest at public events.
Davis believes that the movement can still change hearts and minds. She emphasized the importance of continued engagement, noting that many have joined the pro-life cause after witnessing the violence of the opposition.
“It’s vital for everyone to get involved,” Davis stated. “The violence from the left underscores the urgency of our work and reinforces our commitment to promoting life and truth.”
Davis reflected on the effectiveness of their messaging, sharing that it often results in conversions to pro-life beliefs. She contrasted this with the aggressive tactics of opponents, underscoring her confidence that dialogue and peaceful engagement are ultimately more impactful.
