Sports Betting Insights: Rangers vs. Cardinals Preview

Every sports bettor experiences slumps, similar to athletes. Right now, I’m in one, and it’s crucial to inform readers when I’m performing well or poorly. Currently, you might want to consider fading my advice. Slumps don’t typically last long, and I’m optimistic about a turnaround as the Texas Rangers face the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Texas Rangers are a team whose roster doesn’t immediately impress. While I’m supportive of the team, their lineup lacks standout hitters or a dominating presence. Corey Seager shines as a former World Series MVP. Jake Burger is having a commendable season, and Josh Jung is making hits. Overall, though, they seem like an average offensive team. Their pitching rotation, on the other hand, is formidable.

On Monday night, Jacob deGrom will be the starting pitcher for the Rangers. Known as one of the generation’s best pitchers, there was a time when his appearances nearly guaranteed a win. Although he doesn’t maintain this elite status now, he’s still a strong starter with a record of 3-4, a 3.77 ERA, and a 1.01 WHIP for the year. His road performance recently has been concerning, where he gave up 16 earned runs in 15.1 innings across three starts in May. He performed better in home starts with only two earned runs in 13 innings.

Contrastingly, the Cardinals have had a turbulent few years but have managed to return above .500. As a Chicago Cubs fan, my perspective on them might be unique. They recently revamped their roster, trading away top pitcher Sonny Gray and two major bats. This believed rebuilding year has instead resulted in present success with the club over .500.

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Michael McGreevy starts today, having shown promise early in the season. His record stands at 3-4 with a 2.98 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. His home field stats are particularly impressive, with a 1.93 ERA. Despite his last two starts where he allowed eight earned runs in nine innings, he’s only given up nine earned runs throughout May.

This matchup might be a pitcher’s duel. DeGrom’s current struggles don’t imply he’s doomed to underperform on the road all season. With intentional adjustments, he still has the potential to deliver stellar performances.

I’m siding with the Cardinals for this game. Despite their average performance at Busch Stadium, McGreevy thrives there. DeGrom has been less effective away from home, which isn’t exclusive to May. Betting on the Cardinals on the moneyline seems sensible, but an under bet could also be fitting.
