Nancy Dello Stritto, a Pompano Beach resident nearing her 77th birthday, experienced a shock upon receiving her vehicle registration renewal. Inside was a new license plate with the inscription “SQZ A55,” which she perceived as inappropriate. In an interview with CBS News Miami, Dello Stritto expressed her disbelief and anger that such a plate could pass inspection.

The plate has sparked considerable discussion within her retirement community. While Dello Stritto finds the configuration distasteful, her family and friends largely disagree. With a current count of 16-1, they have encouraged her to maintain the plate.

Florida license plates have traditionally been produced in a North Florida state prison and distributed through county offices. The Broward County Property Tax Collector’s office mailed Dello Stritto’s plate. Upon inquiry, an office manager confirmed that they offer free replacements for plates considered offensive at their Plantation location.

Despite her initial disappointment, Dello Stritto plans to retain the plate. She remains open to notifying the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. With humor, she acknowledges, “I can handle it; maybe I’ll even get some honks.”
