Democracy Dies in Darkness

Senator Mitch McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky, has not been seen in the Senate since June. He is recovering from a fall that occurred at his home in Washington, according to his office.

The Senate is set to reconvene Monday after a five-week recess. There is uncertainty about whether Senator McConnell will return to the chamber at that time.

This extended absence marks the first significant time McConnell has been away from the Senate in recent years. His recovery period has coincided with important legislative discussions and decisions in the Senate.
