Sean Ono Lennon, the 50-year-old son of the late John Lennon, has embraced fatherhood. He shared on Tuesday that he and his partner, Charlotte Kemp Muhl, have welcomed a son, Aurelius. Lennon announced, “Okay so…Charlotte and I would like to announce that we have indeed created a Human Bean! His name is, Aurelius! Thank you!” Aurelius translates to “golden” in Latin.
Lennon and Muhl, who have been together for nearly 20 years, perform as the band Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger. Sean is the offspring of John Lennon’s second wife, Yoko Ono, who stood by John during his assassination in December 1980 in New York.
Aurelius marks the first time John Lennon would have become a grandfather. John’s older son, Julian Lennon, is 63 and hails from John’s first marriage to Cynthia Lennon. Julian once shared with the Telegraph that he hesitated to have children due to the example set by his legendary father. He remarked, “He was young and didn’t know what the hell he was doing. That’s the reason I haven’t had children yet. I didn’t want to do the same thing.”
Both Julian and Sean attended the exclusive 100-minute preview of Peter Jackson’s “The Beatles: Get Back” at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood in November 2021.
Proud father Sean Lennon shared several photos of newborn Aurelius on Instagram. Julian, who is Sean’s half-brother, also posted images of Aurelius with four heart emojis as a caption. Various prominent figures, including actor Bijou Phillips, filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, comedian Whitney Cummings, socialite Paris Hilton, and actor Lindsay Lohan, extended their congratulations to Lennon and Muhl via Instagram.
