The nation’s highest-ranking federal law official is facing criticism due to his recent involvement in political events. With five weeks remaining until the midterm election, some specialists argue that Attorney General Todd Blanche is compromising the impartiality expected of the Justice Department. They believe these appearances may blur the boundaries intended to prevent partisan bias within the department.

Justice correspondent Ali Rogin investigates these concerns. Notably, Rogin is a respected journalist with the PBS News Hour, focusing on the Supreme Court and U.S. judicial system. Her exemplary work during the COVID-19 pandemic earned her a Peabody Award in 2021. Additionally, she has received two Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association.

Rogin’s career includes participation in several award-nominated projects. These nominations include an Emmy for her insightful coverage of the fall of ISIS in 2020, the Las Vegas mass shooting in 2017, President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2014, and the midterm elections in 2010.
