The San Francisco Giants have suspended the salary of outfielder Harrison Bader following a scooter accident that has ended his season early. Team president of baseball operations, Buster Posey, stated that the team is currently looking into the details of the incident while withholding Bader’s pay.

“Over the weekend, Harrison Bader was involved in an accident that has delayed Harrison’s prior treatment timeline for plantar fasciitis and, unfortunately, his return to the field,” Posey stated in a release on MLB.com.

“We are still investigating the circumstances of the accident but will be suspending payment to Harrison until he is able to resume performing services for the Club.”

Bader’s injury and consequent season-ending status come after having been sidelined since May 29 due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. His recent scooter mishap occurred at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday when his scooter collided with a San Francisco Fire Department truck, as reported by SFist.

Previously, Bader was involved in another scooter incident as a player at the University of Florida, resulting in a suspension for 19 games.

Bader’s history in Major League Baseball spans a decade, with stints at the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Giants in recent years. The Gold Glove-winning center fielder holds a career .244 batting average, along with 93 home runs and 336 RBIs. During this season with the Giants, Bader recorded a .170 average with five home runs in 39 games.
