Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called for global action against far-left political terrorism, emphasizing the dangers posed by groups like Antifa. Constitutional law attorney Jonathan Turley highlights how these groups, using encrypted channels and international funding, represent a transnational threat.
Rubio has warned not to underestimate the violent nature of left-wing extremism, which he believes is driven by deep-seated hatred for civilization. The State Department recently designated Autistici/Inventati, known as the A/I Collective, as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist for allegedly supporting violent far-left networks. This has led to the shutdown of multiple servers and websites utilized by extremists.
A State Department official stressed the significance of this action, stating that the A/I Collective served as the digital backbone for Antifa’s global terror network. Following the designation, numerous sites linked to groups like Rose City Antifa and Jane’s Revenge have gone offline.
Among these was the Rose City Counter-Info website, used to publicize personal information about Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel and incite violence against federal agents. Jane’s Revenge utilized A/I services to claim responsibility for attacks on pregnancy centers, including a firebombing in Madison, Wisconsin.
The dismantling of A/I Collective infrastructure is a substantial setback for transnational far-left networks, according to a State Department official.
Sanctions imposed on A/I Collective prevent U.S. entities from engaging financially with it and freeze any assets it holds under U.S. jurisdiction. The collective claims its purpose is to provide digital self-defense tools and denies allegations of supporting terrorism.
Despite these claims, the State Department asserts that A/I Collective facilitated communication for groups like Hamas, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Hezbollah. The ongoing investigation has revealed nefarious protest funding from such channels.
Rubio’s rallying of over 60 countries signifies a strong stance against far-left extremism, as the threat extends beyond national borders, posing risks to America and its allies.
