Rep. Mike Lawler, a Republican from New York, anticipates a loss for far-left candidates in the approaching midterm elections. He expressed confidence that U.S. voters will turn away from what he calls the “politics of envy.” Lawler shared these thoughts during a segment on “Fox & Friends Weekend,” echoing former President Donald Trump’s warnings. Trump had previously voiced concerns about the growth of far-left ideology in the United States during an address at Mount Rushmore.

“For some, the politics of envy and jealousy are rising. But I fundamentally believe in the goodness of America and the American people. And they will reject this soundly in November in the midterms,” Lawler stated.

President Trump spoke at Mount Rushmore to inaugurate celebrations for the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence. In his address, he cautioned about threats to America’s identity, mentioning a resurgence of communist ideology. He vowed to prevent the nation from turning to communism, which he labeled as the “greatest threat to our country.” He reassured that after 250 years, the American dream will persist.

Lawler highlighted recent victories by Democratic socialist candidates, including in New York, suggesting these successes signify anti-American sentiments. He warned about the erosion of the Founding Fathers’ vision as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.

House Speaker Mike Johnson echoed Lawler’s sentiments after several far-left candidate wins in New York. Johnson described the situation as a “very serious time” for the nation, noting that communist ideologies are “on our own shores.” He mentioned that radical candidates are now vying for Congress.

Despite these concerns, Lawler remains optimistic that political differences will not divide the nation. “As we move forward and embark on our next 250 years, this is the greatest country on the face of the Earth. And no matter our differences, no matter the politics of the moment, the fact is we should all be grateful for living in the United States of America,” he affirmed.
