On Friday, the Boston Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy made a significant announcement about the team’s new player.

Adley Rutschman, who joined the team from the Baltimore Orioles earlier in the week, will start his recovery from left wrist discomfort with a rehab assignment. He is scheduled to play for Triple-A Worcester on Saturday.

Rutschman is set to catch five innings, marking his first game since July 18. The Woo Sox quickly highlighted this event on social media, stating that Rutschman will have at least two at-bats.

Despite the addition, Boston is not heavily reliant on Rutschman’s return to the lineup. The team has been strong offensively, scoring six runs per game over an 18-3 span since July 17. However, the current catchers Connor Wong and Jake Rogers have a combined OPS+ below average.

Rutschman has improved his performance at the plate, recovering from injuries during this season. His stats include a slash line of .251/.331/.433 with a 115 OPS+. Incorporating a player like him into the lineup can enhance both the offensive and defensive aspects.
