President Trump to Attend Pentagon Ceremony for 9/11 Anniversary

President Donald Trump has decided not to attend the 25th anniversary ceremony of the September 11 attacks at Ground Zero. Reports indicate this is due to his request to deliver a speech being declined by event organizers.

Trump is expected to commemorate the tragic day by attending a 9/11 ceremony at the Pentagon, where he will deliver an address. Vice President JD Vance will stand in for Trump at the New York event.

Organizers of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum have maintained a strict policy against political speeches to ensure the event remains nonpartisan. This has been in place for over a decade.

“Flowers are placed on victims’ names at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.”

Notable figures such as Mayor Mamdani, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and former presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama are expected to attend the Ground Zero ceremony, alongside Vice President JD Vance.

Trump’s address at the Pentagon will follow a Republican midterm political convention in Dallas. This sequence suggests that his remarks may carry a political tone.

President Trump also plans to travel to Ireland following the Pentagon event. During his visit, he will attend the Irish Open golf tournament at his resort.

In 2024, Trump was present at the Ground Zero memorial event with Vice President Vance, President Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris close to the presidential campaign culmination, which Trump eventually won. He did not deliver a speech then but visited a fire station to meet FDNY firefighters.
