President Trump Praises UK Law Enforcement for Foiling Terror Plot

President Donald Trump attended the Presidents Cup golf tournament at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, on September 27, 2026. During this event, he commended UK law enforcement for apprehending five men suspected of plotting an attack on a US air base.

Speaking to reporters in Chicago, Trump described the arrests in the UK as “fantastic” and praised the cooperative efforts between the two nations, according to NewsNation’s Libbey Dean. He mentioned that the federal government is investigating these individuals, who were purportedly planning significant damage to the base. “We had them under view for a long time and we got em,” Trump remarked.

London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest of the five men suspected of orchestrating the attack on RAF Fairford, as reported by The Associated Press. This base, owned by the UK and operated by the US, has been a launch site for American strikes against Iranian missile positions under a past agreement with former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The base is situated in Gloucestershire in southwest England.

Authorities were alerted early Sunday morning local time about three suspicious vehicles heading toward the base. The nationalities of those apprehended remain undisclosed.

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham expressed gratitude to Gloucestershire Police, Counter Terrorism Policing, the UK armed forces, and others safeguarding the public. In a message on social platform X, Burnham appreciated the cooperation of residents asked to evacuate their homes temporarily for safety checks. He emphasized the priority of public safety and security, encouraging residents not to speculate as authorities work to uncover the full details of the incident.
