Political Inaction on Climate Change Persists Over Decades

Sixty years have passed, yet inaction from Washington has failed to make climate change disappear. Our government has options to confront this issue but chooses not to act. Surprisingly, many political leaders and candidates remain silent on the matter.

The fossil fuel industry has historically aligned with Republicans, effectively blocking climate action. On the other hand, Democrats have traditionally been more open to addressing climate concerns. However, silence has recently become prevalent even among Democrats.

With the November midterms approaching, think tanks and consultants advise Democrats to steer clear of discussing global warming. Their rationale is that voters do not prioritize the issue, making it a less favorable topic for campaign discussions.
