In California, Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was involved in a hit-and-run incident. Authorities reported that a parked car sustained ‘major’ damage. The Napa County Sheriff’s Office announced this on Saturday, suggesting misdemeanor charges could be filed.

On Friday, Pelosi drove his brown convertible in Yountville, a town known for its wine country. He struck a lawfully parked car, briefly halted, but then drove away per the sheriff’s statement. No injuries resulted from the incident.

A witness observed the crash and called 911. Deputies later discovered Pelosi about a quarter-mile from the accident site with noticeable front-end damage on his vehicle. He admitted to officers that he hit something, though he was uncertain of the specifics of the incident. The statement confirmed that the 86-year-old had no alcohol in his system.

The sheriff’s office directed Pelosi to the Department of Motor Vehicles to assess his ability to continue driving. Officials stated this is a standard procedure for senior drivers. Pelosi was not arrested, and due to the absence of injuries, they recommended a misdemeanor charge for leaving the accident scene.

Nancy Pelosi’s representative did not comment when contacted via email. Paul Pelosi has a previous record; in 2022, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges in Napa County, receiving a sentence of five days in jail and three years on probation. Pelosi served only two of those days in jail, obtained credit for another two for good behavior, and completed the remaining day through a courthouse work program.

His probation included attending a three-month drinking driver class and installing an ignition interlock device for breath sobriety tests before engine ignition. Pelosi also paid around $5,000 for victim restitution covering medical bills and lost wages, along with nearly $2,000 in fines. During the same year, he suffered a severe assault at his home in San Francisco.
