A dramatic confrontation unfolded in Oregon when a SWAT team engaged a suspect accused of a shooting spree. Erik Gordon Shunn, aged 53, faced allegations of targeting several tree workers near Portland. Authorities reported Shunn fired over 200 rounds during the incident.
Drone footage showed Shunn allegedly shooting at the drone, as per Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). The situation escalated when Shunn operated a compact tractor near his residence. At this point, a SWAT vehicle intervened, colliding with the tractor and trapping it against his house. SWAT members then quickly apprehended him.
The Clackamas County SWAT Team responded following a report of a neighbor armed and firing at arborists in a rural area. According to a 911 call, Shunn had multiple guns, and witnesses estimated he fired about 20 rounds towards the tree workers.
Drones later spotted him on his driveway. Despite his efforts to barricade using a tractor, SWAT officers seized the chance to arrest him when he was without his rifle.
Following his capture, Shunn was treated onsite before hospital evaluation. Authorities ensured the safety of neighbors and workers, confirming no injuries. Shunn’s mother, present at the standoff, was unharmed.
Shunn faces charges including second-degree attempted murder and unlawful use of a weapon. He is currently detained without bail at Clackamas County Jail.
