Ongoing Investigation Involving Rep. Ilhan Omar

Tom Homan, the White House border czar, confirmed during an appearance on ‘The Sunday Briefing’ that the Department of Homeland Security is examining allegations connected to Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. While Homan acknowledged the inquiry, he did not provide specifics, citing an ‘ongoing criminal investigation.’

When questioned about potential evidence of immigration or naturalization fraud committed by Omar, Homan opted not to comment directly. He stated, ‘I know things are going on, but I can’t give specifics of what’s happening.’ He emphasized that anyone who violates immigration laws, regardless of their status, is not above the law. He added that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) would continue the investigation.

Later in the discussion, Homan confirmed that ICE is involved by saying, ‘I’m confirming that ICE is, yeah — look, I said months ago that there’s something that’s been reported and needs to be looked at.’ Omar has faced long-standing accusations of marrying her brother as part of an immigration scheme, although she has consistently denied these claims, labeling them as ‘bigoted lies.’

These developments follow remarks made by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin on a podcast. Mullin stated, ‘Something’s going to happen … We know that she married her brother to try to bring him to the United States. We know he now lives in London.’ He speculated that illegal activity might have facilitated their immigration.

Vice President JD Vance commented in May that the Justice Department was assessing whether Omar engaged in immigration fraud. He expressed suspicion, saying, ‘You read the things about Ilhan Omar … who she married and whether she didn’t marry this person or that person … It certainly seems like something fishy is there.’

Vance’s remarks followed his podcast interview in March with Benny Johnson, where he indicated discussions with immigration advisor Stephen Miller about possible legal measures against Omar.

Homan outlined the denaturalization process for proven cases of immigration fraud as ‘very serious,’ underscoring that lying during naturalization can result in denaturalization. He noted, ‘If someone lies through that process to becoming a citizen, and we can prove they, in fact, lied or misrepresented themselves, we can absolutely denaturalize them.’ This process has been implemented multiple times over the last 40 years.

Fox News Digital sought comment from Omar’s office. Meanwhile, Max Bacall, an associate editor for Fox News Digital, contributed to this report alongside Louis Casiano.
