Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Festival Raises $20 Million

Olivia Rodrigo surprised attendees at the Daisy Chain Fields festival with a special guest known for her generosity. The inaugural music festival raised an impressive $10 million for women-focused nonprofits. The “drivers license” singer shared an unexpected announcement: Melinda French Gates would match all donations, bringing the total to $20 million.

Prior to Rodrigo’s headlining set in Irvine, she introduced Melinda French Gates, who pledged to double the donations. Rodrigo expressed her gratitude for the performers who contributed for free and emphasized the significance of empowering women to create healthy, self-determined lives. She highlighted Gates as an exemplary advocate for women’s empowerment.

“She’s generous and brave and has done so much good in this world,” Rodrigo told the crowd, acknowledging Gates’ matching contribution. “I’m so grateful!”

Gates commended Rodrigo for her efforts and emphasized the power of collective action among women and girls in driving change. She expressed her appreciation to attendees and recognized Olivia’s vision for the event.

Rodrigo, inspired by Sarah McLachlan’s success with Lilith Fair, aimed to replicate that empowerment spirit. She noted that the funds raised would benefit ten specific organizations, including Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, and Planned Parenthood, among others.

In addition to performances from Rodrigo, festival-goers enjoyed music from Chappell Roan, Garbage, Doechii, and others. Despite a last-minute cancellation by Katseye due to an injury, the festival continued with energy and enthusiasm.

Special collaborations included performances with Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morissette, and Sarah McLachlan, acknowledging McLachlan’s influence on Rodrigo’s festival concept.
