Olivia Rodrigo captivated audiences on the opening night of The Unraveled Tour. The performance took place at People’s Bank Arena in Hartford, Conn., attracting thousands of devoted fans.
Rodrigo, 23, appeared in a baby blue pleated mini dress while performing her song “The Cure” from her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. As she sang, an unexpected rain shower fell onto the stage, transforming her attire to reveal a red latex ensemble beneath.
After this dramatic display, Rodrigo returned for an encore, dressed in a tank top and jeans. This encore included hits from her previous albums, GUTS and SOUR.
Rodrigo expressed her excitement for the show online, sharing a carousel of images from the concert. She thanked contributors such as @esdevlin, @husseinchalayanofficial, and @humanprsn for their roles in bringing her vision to life. Rodrigo added that she was looking forward to meeting more fans on tour.
“First night of the unraveled tour was magic,” Rodrigo wrote.
The Unraveled Tour is Rodrigo’s third concert tour, supporting her new album. It includes 86 shows across North America and Europe, concluding with a two-night performance at London’s O2 Arena on May 10.
In addition to her musical achievements, Rodrigo made a significant impact through her inaugural Daisy Chain Fields music festival, raising $20 million for women-focused nonprofits. Melinda French Gates committed to match the donations, doubling the impact of the event.
Rodrigo praised Gates as an inspiring figure, emphasizing Gates’ commitment to empowering women and girls. Gates, who also joined Rodrigo on stage, inspired audiences with a message about collective strength and empowerment.
“Look at what you have done,” Gates told Rodrigo. “Look at what you created!”
The funds raised at the festival will be divided among ten organizations: Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center, and Planned Parenthood.
