Olivia Miles Gains Attention as a Rising WNBA Star

Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles, known by the nickname “The Spectacle,” is making waves in the WNBA. Renowned coach Dawn Staley suggests Miles could become the league’s emblematic figure, similar to the late Jerry West as “The Logo.”

During the Lynx’s victory over the Indiana Fever, Staley shared her admiration on social media, exclaiming, “@oliviamiles06 got me in my house cursing on a Sunday. Lord have mercy!” She encouraged the WNBA to embrace this suggestion, posting a fan-made image portraying Miles as the new logo of the league.

Dawn Staley, a celebrated coach and Hall of Famer, holds a respected opinion in women’s basketball. However, one doesn’t need her expertise to recognize Miles’s exceptional talent.

In the game against the Fever, Miles led her team with an impressive 28 points, shooting 11-for-14 from the field, along with contributing six assists and four rebounds. Since being selected as the second overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft this April, Miles has consistently delivered outstanding performances.

While “The Logo” status might remain out of reach, Miles stands a solid chance of claiming both the WNBA Rookie of the Year and WNBA MVP titles. The Lynx have clinched their tenth consecutive win and boast a league-leading 25-6 record. Miles leads her team in scoring, averaging 19.4 points per game, and in assists, with an average of 5.8 per game, all while continuously improving.

Her integration with veteran All-Star guards Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride has been seamless, and the Lynx have been further bolstered by the return of All-Star forward Napheesa Collier. Though the Las Vegas Aces, with three titles in the past four years, remain formidable, this season presents the Lynx with a golden opportunity to end their eight-year championship drought.
