Ohio Police Seek Suspects in Toledo Festival Shooting

Ohio police are actively searching for a 20-year-old individual, Ka Nye Taylor, and a second unknown shooter linked to a shooting at a neighborhood festival in Toledo. The incident occurred on Saturday at the Old West End Festival, wounding 12 individuals.

The Toledo Police Department released a statement identifying Taylor as a suspect wanted on 11 counts of felonious assault. His identification emerged from interviews and investigative leads. Taylor is described as a 5-foot-11 Black man, weighing 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. An undated booking photo of Taylor was provided by the department.

Police have received photographs of a second shooter and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying this individual. In an effort to apprehend the suspects, Crime Stoppers and the U.S. Marshals Service are offering rewards, $10,000 and $5,000 respectively, for information leading to their arrests.

The mass shooting resulted from a dispute involving two rival groups, according to statements made by police on Tuesday. Victims ranged in age from 14 to 61, with the majority being in their early 20s. Police Lt. Dan Gerken explained that while some victims were targeted, the majority were innocent bystanders.

“While investigators believe some of the victims are intentionally targeted, the majority of those injured appear to have been innocent bystanders caught up in this senseless act of violence,” said Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle on Tuesday.

Police estimate three victims were part of the group dispute, while the other nine were unintended victims. All victims are expected to recover, with nine already released from the hospital. Authorities continue to investigate the details of how the incident unfolded that Saturday night.
