New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani expressed openness to all media outlets during a press conference at Gracie Mansion. This event was in response to President Donald Trump’s recent ban on certain media outlets from the White House.
The press conference included a question from a reporter about Trump’s decision to exclude CNN, MS NOW, and Politico. Mamdani responded positively, emphasizing the importance of engaging with all media regardless of their opinions or critiques.
“I told the president that we’re going to have all of the members of the press here on the lawn,” Mamdani stated.
Trump took the opportunity to elaborate on his decision and the actions following the ban, including the suspension of White House pool coverage by networks such as FOX News Media, ABC News, CBS News, CNN, and NBC News.
He discussed his perspective on the media boycott, saying that it was ineffective and unimportant. “Look at all that press,” Trump noted.
Despite his critical view on certain media coverage, Trump decided to hold the meeting at Gracie Mansion and spoke of his accomplishments in office, citing economic improvements and peace settlements.
“We have the best economic numbers in our country’s history,” Trump asserted.
Trump justified his exclusion of specific media from the White House, alleging that their reports compromised national security by disseminating “fake news.” He criticized CNN in particular, describing their reports as consistently negative.
To illustrate the wider implications, Trump highlighted the need for discretion concerning national security when dealing with media coverage.
