Nigel Farage Denies Wrongdoing Amid Donation Scandal at Reform UK

Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, addressed his involvement in a donation scandal. The controversy followed an undercover investigation with a journalist posing as a wealthy American’s son wishing to donate to the party.

During an interview with BBC News, Farage claimed he was not attentive during the filmed conversation with senior aides. These aides have since resigned after appearing to discuss donation arrangements. British law requires donors to be UK-registered voters or companies.

Farage stated he was involved in campaigning and unaware of specifics about any potential donor. He emphasized his understanding of electoral and donation laws, stating, “Income could have come from all over the world into a family office based in London.”

The internal Reform UK meeting, broadcast on Channel 4, led to the resignation of two party officials, James Orr and Dan Jukes, pending an investigation. Both denied wrongdoing.

Farage told LBC Radio no illegal funds were accepted, labeling the situation as “entrapment.” He expressed dissatisfaction with how contractors were influenced to make questionable statements.

Jukes, known as Farage’s close advisor, issued a statement refuting any unethical actions, describing the situation as long-term entrapment by foreign activists. He has stepped back to clear his name.

Orr expressed readiness to cooperate with the internal investigation in a statement to Sky News.
