The New York Jets are making significant strides in player performance with the expansion of their Player Performance Center. Owner Woody Johnson is doubling the facility’s size to enhance training, recovery, and nutrition resources for the 2026 season.
According to Johnson, the new facilities will be 250% larger, enabling more centralized operations within strength and conditioning, recovery, and nutrition services. This expansion supports the team’s goal of improving on-field performance after the 2025 season.
We are investing in an exceptionally dynamic, innovative training staff with experience designing advanced performance systems to support our players. – Woody Johnson
The facilities boast cutting-edge technology, including vibroacoustic recovery pods, multimodal wellness chambers, pneumatic resistance equipment, computer-vision tracking, and an AI-powered performance app. These advancements build a comprehensive health and human performance ecosystem, explained Erik Korem, the Jets’ director of player performance.
Holistic Health Approach
Korem emphasizes the integration of data and AI in enhancing sports science and recovery, with a focus beyond technology. The renovations are part of Phase 2 at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center, which shifts the traditional training experience by promoting synchronized efforts among practitioners responsible for different performance areas.
The facility’s design supports efficient workflow and integrates new technologies. It features zones for strength, power, speed, and mobility work, along with expanded nutrition and recovery areas to customize programs for individual athletes.
Transition during Construction
Even during construction, the team benefits from a temporary training space larger than the old weight room. This preparatory phase ensures the team does not compromise short-term preparation while focusing on long-term improvements. The investment, initiated by Johnson, is aimed at translating these advancements into better on-field results in 2026.
Personalized Training Programs
A key feature of the new center is personalization, providing tailored programs based on specific performance needs of each player. The use of tools such as 3D motion capture and force plates aids in weekly assessments and informed adjustments. Velocity-based training introduces precision in judging an athlete’s readiness and optimizing strength and power development.
Focused Recovery and Nutrition
The renovation adds cutting-edge recovery tools like the TERSA SAVA Sound Pod and Ammortal Chamber. These systems offer innovative methods to enhance recovery processes post-intense workouts. Meanwhile, customized nutrition plans continue to support athletes’ performance fueled by quality meals and hydration strategies tailored to individual needs. This holistic advancement addresses feedback from players that ranked the club’s previous amenities poorly in the NFLPA’s 2025 report card.
Beyond Technology
Despite state-of-the-art equipment, the weight room remains secondary to practice on the football field. The expanded facilities provide an environment to support football-specific skills development. Erik Korem highlights the importance of having skilled professionals using the tools effectively, emphasizing that an integrated system of resources is vital for success.
Ultimately, the Jets’ revamped Player Performance Center is structured to deliver timely, accurate information to enhance decision-making for each player. The investment in both technology and expertise reflects the team’s commitment to improving competitive performance through advanced training solutions.
