The New York Giants’ promising start to the NFL season has hit a roadblock as they assess the injury to quarterback Jaxson Dart. Dart, in his second season, injured his left knee early in the game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The incident occurred during the first quarter when Dart was hit simultaneously by defenders from the Rams. A low hit caused his knee to bend unnaturally.
Another concern arose with receiver Malik Nabers, who left the field clutching his right shoulder after failing to catch a pass. Nabers, however, did return after sitting out one series to rest his shoulder.
Dart showed visible pain as he clutched his left knee, which is crucial for his throwing motion. Fortunately, because his leg was not planted when he was hit, the risk of a severe ACL tear is lower.
Sources suggest Dart might have an MCL issue. If confirmed, surgery won’t be necessary, but he will miss playing time.
Initially treated in the on-field medical tent, Dart was later escorted to the locker room, managing to walk with a limp. Backup quarterback Jameis Winston replaced Dart on the field.
The Giants are now focusing on evaluating these injuries further to determine the exact impact on their lineup. The team hopes for a swift recovery for both players.
