Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses his plan to attend the United Nations General Assembly despite calls from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to enforce an International Criminal Court arrest warrant against him. On ‘Sunday Morning Futures,’ Netanyahu also shares his views on military strategies concerning Iran and Hezbollah.

Netanyahu claims Mamdani is fostering division among New Yorkers with anti-Israel rhetoric. He criticizes Mamdani for allegedly making New York’s Jewish community feel unsafe. “Look what he’s doing. He’s fomenting hate. He’s supposed to be the mayor of all New Yorkers, Jews, Christians, Muslims, everyone, but he’s trying to turn one group against the other,” Netanyahu stated on the show hosted by Maria Bartiromo. He noted that Jewish Americans in New York report increasing fear.

“They’re afraid right now, and I don’t think it’s accidental that after [Mamdani] made this hate speech against Israel and against me, the next day, a Jew is stabbed coming out of a synagogue,”

Netanyahu referred to a stabbing incident outside a Manhattan synagogue, where Raul Morales allegedly attacked a Jewish man. Reports suggest Morales used a screwdriver while shouting “Allahu Akbar.” Morales reportedly repeated this phrase during a separate stabbing of an Asian man.

Mamdani’s video, stating he lacks authority to arrest Netanyahu, failed to calm concerns among Jewish leaders. Mamdani called Netanyahu a “war criminal” and cited his policies against Palestinians as reasons for federal intervention.

Despite Mamdani’s stance, Netanyahu plans to attend the UN General Assembly in September, where he intends to “speak the truth” and defend Israel’s relationship with the United States. “I’m not concerned [about Mamdani],” said Netanyahu.

Mamdani’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
