Schools heavily depend on technology for both educational delivery and everyday operations. This shift prompts school leaders to reassess technology investments. The focus is moving away from simply adding technology to evaluating whether existing systems support school operations effectively. Issues now center around whether technology aligns with teaching and school needs.

Nathan Stark, who spent 16 years in schools before founding FolioBridge, highlights a common pattern. Teachers often switch between multiple platforms to complete daily tasks. One key factor is time. Stark points to routine meetings, administrative requests, and professional development as areas for examining whether processes respect educators’ limited schedules. Technologies that streamline these workflows could help focus on preparation, collaboration, and students, rather than adding more tasks for teachers.

AI should be adopted with similar caution. Stark sees AI’s potential to help tailor lessons to individual student needs when used correctly. He emphasizes the need for careful examination of automated systems, especially when they impact significant student evaluations. According to Stark, innovation should serve educational purposes.

This approach requires integrating infrastructure into a teacher support system. Schools have the opportunity to facilitate expertise sharing, reduce administrative friction, and enable collaboration across institutions while preserving each school’s distinct culture.

The challenge for education leaders lies in intentional decision-making. Each new platform requires attention to security, training, and workflow. Schools need to evaluate whether technology enhances the teaching environment. The focus is on making educators’ work lives more efficient and connecting them with valuable resources.

As schools continue their digital transformation, the advantage may come not from adding more technology, but from systems that allow educators to dedicate more time to students. Stark asserts, “Teachers have always been the foundation of great schools. Technology delivers its greatest value when it removes obstacles, strengthens collaboration, and gives educators more capacity to focus on students.”
