Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin criticized ABC and NBC for not broadcasting President Donald Trump’s election-security address on Thursday night. Mullin questioned why these networks chose not to inform the American public as the midterms approach, calling it “shameful.”

ABC and NBC offered the address through streaming platforms instead of their broadcast networks. CBS broadcast part of Trump’s remarks before cutting away, while Fox News carried the entire speech live. CNN did not air the speech live, and MS NOW aired only part of it.

The networks had previously echoed claims about the security of the 2020 election. Mullin stated that Trump’s presentation included newly declassified intelligence, demanding answers from the networks about their decision not to cover it.

“They don’t like the topic because they know how corrupt our system is,” Trump said, accusing the networks of being part of a plot.

Trump argued for the passage of the SAVE America Act to impose federal voter ID and proof-of-citizenship requirements. He criticized ABC and NBC directly for not airing his speech, suggesting these networks want to protect a “radical left.” Mullin echoed these sentiments, saying the networks’ decisions raised questions about what they might be “covering up.”

Trump also argued that the networks’ decisions should have regulatory consequences. He suggested that such actions warranted a possible revocation of their licenses. It is worth mentioning that the Federal Communications Commission licenses individual broadcast stations, not the national networks.
