MLB Reporter Tricia Whitaker Takes a Hit During Orioles Game

MLB reporter Tricia Whitaker had an unexpected experience at the ballpark on Friday night. While covering the Baltimore Orioles’ game against the Detroit Tigers for Apple TV, she got hit by a line drive from Adley Rutschman that struck her forearm. Despite the incident, Whitaker reassured fans she was fine, sporting a wrap and ice pack provided by the Orioles’ medical team.

Whitaker, known for her coverage of MLB games, humorously commented on the situation through a post on X. She said, ‘In case anyone was wondering, Adley Rutschman’s exit velo is still elite. My forearm is proof. Found out what it feels like to be the injury update instead of reporting it. 10-day IL, forearm discomfort.’ She also thanked the Orioles’ medical staff for their prompt assistance.

The scheduled game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers on Saturday was postponed due to heavy rain moving across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions over Memorial Day weekend. This gave Whitaker some extra time to recover. The Orioles emerged victorious with a 7-4 win on Friday, during which Rutschman scored two hits, including a double and the line drive to Whitaker.

Whitaker’s positive outlook continued, as seen on social media, where she shared her enthusiasm for attending the Indy 500. She jokingly mentioned her new concern would be avoiding bouncing tires at the event.

Over her career, Whitaker has interviewed several players across MLB events, including conversations with Kansas City Royals left fielder Tommy Pham and Toronto Blue Jays’ George Springer during their respective games. Her resilience and humor remain evident as she navigates the thrilling environment of baseball reporting.
