A man faces charges following the discovery of an unidentified woman fatally stabbed in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. The incident took place on the city’s South Side.
Chicago police reported the event occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. The victim was found on the ground in the 7300 block of South Emerald Avenue. She had suffered a stab wound to her neck and was immediately taken to UChicago Medicine, where she was pronounced dead.
Police searched the surrounding area and discovered a man on a nearby porch. He held a sharp object and had a stab wound on his right arm. Authorities transported him to the same hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
A weapon was found at the location, and police took the man into custody. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
