Malik Nabers Impresses Giants Fans in Training Camp

New York Giants fans are captivated by Malik Nabers’ performance in training camp, which comes after an offseason filled with questions about his readiness for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys on ‘Sunday Night Football.’ Following the removal of his red non-contact jersey, head coach John Harbaugh provided an optimistic update about the Giants’ 2024 first-round pick, suggesting he is likely to play at the start of the season.

Harbaugh spoke to reporters, noting that it is ‘reasonable to assume’ Nabers is on track for availability from the outset. This news is promising for the wide receiver, who suffered a torn right ACL and meniscus damage in Week 4 last season.

“Probably moving the best we’ve seen him look,” Harbaugh remarked about Nabers, who joined his fellow receivers in regular drills during Monday’s practice without a special jersey.

Harbaugh also expressed that he would feel comfortable witnessing ‘reasonable’ defensive contact in practice involving Nabers.

Recovery and Readiness

The head coach outlined that Nabers’ progress is apparent through his practice performance. While medical updates are shared with Harbaugh, he noted Nabers’ physical condition is robust, his rehab successful, and his mental state positive.

Despite missing full contact in practice, the absence of a non-contact jersey for Nabers aligns with Harbaugh’s strategy, avoiding a sudden transition to full contact before the season begins.

Nabers himself reflected last week on his eagerness to return, expressing a renewed drive to perform on the field. His actions during the first training camp saw fans delighted by his agile movements and solid route running.

Upcoming Games and Expectations

Nabers’ participation in the Giants’ final preseason game against the New York Jets seems unlikely due to the absence of joint practices. His progress toward Week 1 readiness continues with his teammates.

Coach Harbaugh’s observations suggest Nabers is meeting expectations, evident in his practice demeanor and physical agility.

The chemistry between Nabers and quarterback Jaxson Dart is noteworthy. Dart, selected in 2025, had limited time with Nabers before an unfortunate injury. Yet, Nabers’ stats, including 1,204 yards in 15 games during his rookie year, combined with Dart’s 24 touchdowns in 14 games last season, hint at potential success in the upcoming season.

Fans eagerly anticipate the Giants’ matchup against the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on September 13 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
