Liv Morgan Retains Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam 2026

Exciting SummerSlam Opener

SummerSlam 2026 kicked off with an electrifying match between Liv Morgan and Iyo Sky at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Setting the tone for the evening, these two competitors showcased their skills in a thrilling opener.

Morgan vs. Sky: A Dynamic Battle

Liv Morgan made her entrance as the women’s world champion, seeking to defend her title after a notable absence of defenses. Her opponent, Iyo Sky, had previously defeated Morgan in the Queen of the Ring finals, adding anticipation to their match.

Early in the match, Sky sought an advantage with tactics outside the ring. However, Morgan quickly countered and demonstrated her prowess with a barrage of moves, including throwing Sky against the barricade and executing the Three Amigos.

Sky’s Comeback Attempt

Iyo Sky showcased her ability to shift momentum rapidly. A well-placed kick and missile dropkick gave her control, followed by a Bullet Train Attack, strategically positioning Morgan for further assault. Sky’s execution of a sunset-flip powerbomb was a highlight.

Interference and Climactic Moves

Sky appeared poised for a moonsault but faced interference from Morgan’s Judgment Day allies. Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez intervened, disrupting the action and allowing Morgan brief control.

Sky countered, landing a moonsault on Perez and Rodriguez. Despite Morgan’s attempts to recover, she fell victim to Sky’s Spanish Fly move, intensifying the match’s pace.

Decisive Victory and Retention

In the final sequence, Sky unleashed a series of powerful moves, including Morgan’s own finisher, the Oblivion. Yet Morgan stood resilient, countering Sky with a series of maneuvers: an Oblivion, codebreaker, and another Oblivion, leading to a pinfall.

Celebrating her victory, Morgan retained the Women’s World Championship, overcoming one of her toughest challengers on Raw’s roster.
