On Tuesday night, late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon turned their sights on a project led by President Donald Trump. The Lincoln Memorial Pool, recently given a $14 million makeover for an ‘American flag blue’ finish, became a subject of ridicule when algal blooms turned the water green.

Efforts are underway by the National Park Service and contractors to address the issue. They used hydrogen peroxide on Tuesday as part of this ongoing initiative. This project is part of Trump’s broader effort to beautify Washington in anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the United States.

“The pool is now ‘Mexican flag green,'” quipped Kimmel, during his show Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Kimmel shared footage with his audience, pointing out, “Trump reportedly spent $14 million updating the reflecting pool on the National Mall.”

He continued, “He wanted it to have an American flag blue color. The project wrapped last week, but now, not even a week later, the pool is completely green.”

On the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Fallon also joined in. “President Trump just finished his $14 million project on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool,” he began, only to be interrupted by boos from the audience.

Fallon noted, “He was trying to make the water American flag blue. But due to algae growth, it’s now a bright green.”

Adding a playful twist, Fallon remarked, “Trump was going for Avatar and he ended up with Shrek.”
