LaMelo Ball’s collection of luxury cars has turned heads during his basketball career. Recently, however, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard decided to hire a personal driver for navigating his new NBA surroundings, shared by his older brother, Lonzo Ball, on the “Curious Mike” podcast.
During a conversation with Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr., Lonzo revealed the spending habits within the Ball family. When asked who spends the most money among them, Lonzo pointed to LaMelo. “The one who has the most, LaMelo,” he replied.

LaMelo’s Charlotte penthouse, known for its distinctive decor, gained popularity online as he prepared for his transition to Minnesota following a trade to the Timberwolves. Lonzo highlighted that his brother possesses ten cars. Employing a driver might minimize LaMelo’s driving time, subsequently reducing road mishaps.
Lonzo further advised against frequenting exotic cars, opting for less flashy options instead. Commenting on LaMelo’s past car choices, Lonzo remarked, “He’ll buy a $1 million car and then immediately ruin it. You could’ve just bought a beater.” He also mentioned that while LaMelo avoids major accidents, he often encounters other road situations.
“He doesn’t get into accidents, but he has a lot of situations on the road,” Lonzo observed.
Lonzo Ball’s Career and Health Struggles
Lonzo’s professional journey included being a key pick for the Lakers in the 2017 NBA Draft. He played for teams such as the New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2025. Following his trade to the Utah Jazz and subsequent waiver, Lonzo’s path faced challenges due to injuries.
Reflecting on his health setbacks, Lonzo shared, “It was like a thousand and something days,” highlighting the prolonged period he was off the court. He has adjusted to the reality of not returning to his former athletic peak, acknowledging that injuries inevitably impact one’s game.
The Charlotte Hornets originally drafted LaMelo with the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. The trade involving Josh Green to the Timberwolves and acquiring Naz Reid and draft selections marked a new chapter in LaMelo’s career.
