Knicks on Verge of Championship After Victory Over Spurs

The New York Knicks are closing in on ending their long wait for an NBA championship as they head back to Madison Square Garden with just two more wins needed.

In an intense Game 2, Jalen Brunson’s last-second free throw secured a 105-104 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. Just before that, Victor Wembanyama’s missed shot kept the Knicks in control as the game unfolded in San Antonio, Texas.

Karl-Anthony Towns played a pivotal role, scoring 21 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Brunson and Mikal Bridges contributed 20 points each. The Knicks’ victory marked their 13th consecutive win, achieving the second-longest playoff streak in NBA history.

The Knicks join an elite group as they become only the third team to win the first two finals games on the road, alongside the 1993 Chicago Bulls and the 1995 Houston Rockets. Both of those teams went on to win the championship.

Wembanyama came to life in the second half, finishing with 29 points. De’Aaron Fox added 20 points for the Spurs.

As the series moves to New York for Game 3 at Madison Square Garden, anticipation builds. The game could become one of the most expensive sporting events on record.

The Spurs managed to overturn a 12-point deficit in the final quarter, thanks to Wembanyama, who tied the game with a three-point play with less than a minute remaining. Shortly after, Brunson, despite struggling with his shooting, tied the score before Wembanyama missed a critical shot.

In the closing moments, the Knicks regained possession. Brunson was fouled, allowing the Knicks to clinch their win just before the final buzzer.

Game 3 is set for 8:30 p.m. on Monday night, eagerly awaited by Knicks fans who have been longing for a championship since 1973.
