Lucy Milgrim, a 10-year-old, challenges conventional thinking about young athletes. In her family’s garage gym on Long Island, she demonstrates impressive strength by dead-lifting a 145-pound barbell. At just 58 pounds herself, Lucy’s achievement is remarkable.
Lucy began strength training at age 8. She holds three American records in powerlifting and excels in wrestling. Her parents, Michelle and Brett Milgrim, have nurtured her interest and manage her social media presence. Together, Lucy’s Instagram and TikTok accounts have 232,000 followers, highlighting her feats.
A video of Lucy lifting 180 pounds during a powerlifting competition, her personal best, became viral with over 67 million views on Instagram, earning 3.7 million likes. Inspired by her parents’ workouts, Lucy asked her father, an attorney and wrestling coach, to help her train, aiming to improve her wrestling performance.
Lucy blends her rigorous training with playful activities like pull-ups, ring dips, and storytelling about her classmates and interests. Her dedication and social media influence showcase the impact young influencers have in reshaping perceptions of strength and fitness.
