Kelani Jordan’s Triumph in NXT Women’s Championship

Kelani Jordan achieved a significant victory by defeating Kendal Grey for the NXT Women’s Championship at Heatwave. She described the match as ‘one of the best matches of the year’ and ‘the best women’s match of the day.’ The intense contest, lasting nearly 23 minutes, ended when Grey hit an exposed turnbuckle, allowing Jordan to execute a split-legged moonsault and secure the win.

Speaking to OutKick Dropkick, Jordan explained why she felt their bout stood out. ‘Kendal and I share great chemistry from early on. We’re both perfectionists, giving 110% to our matches. This one was highly competitive and intense throughout.’ She also mentioned it being among the longest NXT women’s singles matches without a stipulation in history. ‘That speaks for itself,’ she noted.

Jordan claimed the title in her first opportunity and has held notable titles before, including the NXT Women’s North American Championship and the TNA Knockouts Championship. Her victory at NXT Heatwave was especially meaningful as it marked her rise in the division.

‘It feels awesome,’ Jordan shared. ‘It’s been a long time coming, three and a half years chasing this title. I had other titles, but this is the top women’s title, so it feels good.’ She entered Heatwave determined, feeling like a champion even before clinching the win.

Following her triumph, Jordan faces an eager pool of challengers for her title. Jaida Parker, who made Nattie tap out in their submission match at Heatwave, is the first to step up.
