Judd Nelson, a former member of the Brat Pack, was recently seen in West Hollywood, looking quite different from his past appearances. The 66-year-old was photographed driving through town on his motorcycle, which featured distinctive yellow rims and accents. In the images, Nelson sported long hair and a beard, covered with a gray baseball cap or a black helmet.
Nelson opted for a laid-back style, wearing camo pants and a red and blue flannel shirt. He layered the shirt with a long black coat and accessorized with black sunglasses.
Judd Nelson rose to prominence in the 1980s as part of the Brat Pack. This group of actors, known for frequently appearing in films together, included Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Michael Hall, Demi Moore, Andrew McCarthy, and Rob Lowe. The term Brat Pack was a nod to the Rat Pack, a group of Las Vegas entertainers from the 1950s and ’60s, including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr.
David Blum coined the term in a June 1985 article for New York Magazine. The article named the actors after the release of “St. Elmo’s Fire” and “The Breakfast Club,” which showcased many of the same cast members.
In March 2024, Nelson spoke to US Weekly about the Brat Pack nickname. He felt it portrayed his generation of actors negatively, suggesting they were entitled and unprofessional. Nelson countered this view with his experience, stating, “everyone was on time, everyone knew their lines.” He also noted how the article mistakenly suggested deep friendships among Brat Pack members, saying, “I lived in New York, then I did a movie with people out here [in L.A.]” and once back in New York, he lost touch with them.
Andrew McCarthy produced the 2024 documentary “Brats,” which featured reflections from various members on the Brat Pack label. However, Nelson chose not to participate. He remarked, “I don’t even know who’s in the Brat Pack,” questioning why a rebirth of something that wasn’t fun was necessary.
Films associated with the Brat Pack include “The Outsiders,” “Sixteen Candles,” “Pretty In Pink,” and “About Last Night…”
