Jeremiyah Love’s NFL Debut Shines with Arizona Cardinals

Jeremiyah Love’s entrance into the NFL brought immediate attention during the Arizona Cardinals’ Week 1 match against the Los Angeles Chargers. As the third overall pick from Notre Dame, Love became one of the highest-paid running backs, which set high expectations for his performance.

In his debut, the Cardinals faced the Chargers at SoFi Stadium, considered underdogs. However, quarterback Jacoby Brissett led a strong opening drive that placed them in a scoring position. On second-and-goal from the five-yard line, Love made an impressive run, scoring his first career touchdown and showcasing his talent.

“On second-and-goal from the Chargers’ five-yard line, Love got the handoff from Brissett, bounced out to his left, and found a lane to the left pylon and didn’t lose sight of it.”

First-year head coach Mike LaFleur shared in the excitement, celebrating with the team after the 70-yard drive. Love’s dynamic abilities promise to be a significant asset for the Cardinals’ offense in 2026 and beyond.

Despite criticism over drafting Love third overall, Arizona showed confidence in Love as a key offensive piece to rebuild the team. Love’s history at Notre Dame and his ability to make plays validated this choice.

Throughout the training camp, Love faced an ankle injury, raising questions about his Week 1 participation. At halftime, Love shared the backfield with veteran Tyler Allgeier. The Cardinals’ strategy was to split carries, gradually integrating Love into the game rhythm.

Love’s first game highlighted his potential, making a noticeable impact early in the season. His explosive playstyle indicates a promising future as he adjusts to NFL competition.
