CNN and MS NOW have intensely focused their coverage on Natalie Harp, a trusted aide to former President Donald Trump. This media frenzy followed comments from Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., suggesting inappropriate connections between Harp and Trump, though Ossoff later distanced himself from these implications.
Over the last week, Harp has been mentioned frequently on both networks. CNN transcripts show Harp’s name came up 318 times, while MS NOW exceeded 400 mentions. This coverage highlighted her loyalty to Trump and involvement in his close circle, including a secretive plane switch from Turkey.
“White House strongly rebukes Sen. Ossoff over remarks about key Trump aide Natalie Harp.”
MS NOW noted Harp’s lack of security clearance despite close access to Trump, while CNN reported her unwavering support for him, especially around the January 6 events. CNN also faced backlash for interviewing Harp’s estranged brother, Preston Harp.
The White House responded fiercely to CNN’s inquiries, particularly targeting correspondent Kristen Holmes for asking Trump about Ossoff’s comments. CNN defended Holmes, labeling the criticism “beneath the office.” Curtis Houck from NewsBusters commented on the networks’ focus on Harp, accusing them of vehement opposition to Trump.
Representatives for CNN and MS NOW have not yet replied to requests for comment.
