Increased Incidents Involving Federal Immigration Officers

Recent events highlight a troubling trend in the actions of federal immigration officers. A Washington Post analysis reveals a rise in shootings of motorists by these officers during the Trump administration.

Following two fatal shootings, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) paused operations involving stopping and detaining undocumented immigrants in vehicles. However, President Donald Trump seemed to counteract this decision through a social media statement.

The recent incidents in Houston and Biddeford, Maine, contribute to a total of at least 17 such shootings since Trump’s term began nearly 18 months ago.
