Air pollution levels have increased in numerous cities globally after U.S. embassies and consulates ceased monitoring air quality readings last year. This information comes from a study released on Monday.
The program, which provided independent air quality data from over 80 U.S. diplomatic locations, was stopped by the Trump administration in March 2025. The stated reason for ending the program was budget constraints.
