In Illinois, an incident involving a fatal stabbing led to serious charges. James Adams, 26, and Robin Turner, 62, are facing charges related to the death of Dalewayne Turner, 38. Authorities believe Adams fatally stabbed his half-brother during an argument. Following the incident, he allegedly worked with the victim’s wife to dismember and hide the body.

Authorities accused the pair of concealing the homicide and dismembering the body. This followed the discovery of human remains in Lake Mattoon. The Illinois State Police have been leading the investigation since boaters found a human arm in the lake on June 28. Distinct tattoos on the arm helped identify the remains as Dalewayne Turner.

According to reports, James Adams confessed to the stabbing but claimed self-defense. Robin Turner witnessed the argument in which Adams stabbed her husband multiple times. Despite the fatal incident, she did not contact law enforcement.

The investigation revealed attempts to cover up the crime. These efforts included using bleach, repainting parts of the house, and removing evidence like rugs and wood paneling. Some of Dalewayne Turner’s body parts were found in a freezer. Authorities discovered more remains during a search of the home, where a freezer displayed bloodstains.

Investigators found the torso, neck, and head sealed in a freezer, while other parts had been disposed of in the lake. Weighted trash bags containing remains were secured with duct tape before being submerged. One of these weighted bags split, causing a tattooed arm to float to the surface.

Additional searches uncovered more remains in the lake. The two suspects are scheduled for a detention hearing in court. A GoFundMe campaign for funeral expenses has raised over $1,300, reflecting the family’s grief at the loss of Dalewayne E. Turner.
