IDF Captures Hamas Security Leader in Gaza Raid

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) successfully apprehended the head of Hamas’ general security during a raid in Gaza. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the operation.

A security official identified the captured leader as Mu’in al-Arabid, head of the General Security Apparatus. He was arrested during an Israeli operation deep within Hamas-controlled territory. The IDF used airstrikes for a safe withdrawal and reported no casualties.

“Our policy is to proactively pursue Hamas terrorists, thwart threats, and dismantle terrorist infrastructure,” stated Katz. “We have established a robust security zone in Gaza to safeguard residents and IDF soldiers.”

The raid takes place amid ongoing tensions, with nearly 70% of the Gaza Strip reportedly destroyed. Israeli forces maintain control over the region, aiming for the demilitarization of Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas. Katz affirmed that IDF presence in Gaza will continue to protect the western Negev communities.

This operation follows a push by President Donald Trump’s administration for Hamas to disarm and relinquish control over Gaza. Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and advisor, indicated possible U.S. support for Israeli actions in the region.

“If commitments are not met, Israel will gain further backing from the U.S. and others,” Kushner remarked, following his meeting with Hamas representatives in Egypt. He emphasized the importance of concrete actions from Hamas for a sustainable peace process.

The U.S.-led ‘Board of Peace’ initiative outlines plans for a phased ceasefire, demilitarization of Gaza, Israeli troop withdrawal, and international efforts for reconstruction.
